Do you dream of owning those futuristic flexible displays from Hollywood that juz never seem to get bored to? Well, soon enough we all might have one!

Its been almost over a Decade since the race for flexible displays or electronic papers have begun. Almost every Multinational corporate manufacturer is busy with their R&D to come out with flexible displays. ITRI [Industrial Technology Research institute] from Taiwan, has shown off its pinch of flexible displays last week.

It is a four inch AMOLED screen which the company claims, to be its most technologically advanced breakthrough in flexible display panel segments, promises that these will soon be seen in mobile phones later next year.

Dr.Janglin Chen, ITRI, explains that their Key technology in developing this flexible display is a coating between sandwiched glass substrate and an Upper plastic substrate with a combination of OLEDs. They are mainly targeted at future ebook readers and electronic newspapers, though, their rate of color refresh capabilities approves them to be good enough for a quick movie or two.

All said and done, lets just hope ITRI means business and we’d be more than happy to have ultra cool yet “affordable” rollable screen in our pockets.
