If you are planning to start a SOHO [Small office/Home Office], there are certain absolute essential things that you must get right.

1. Have an Inspiration

You need to have a source of that inherent inspiration & creative ideas for business, much in advance before you can actually lay down a business strategy plan. It could be a mentor, or that successful person you look up to. We are looking for something that will fuel your inner desire to succeed no matter what the hurdles. I’m stressing on this because from my personal research, including myself, 90% of the entrepreneurs come in with no particular goal or have no clue where they are headed to. You will be required to decide upon a niche, i.e an area that your business will focus on. Look at other similar business, understand how they work & come up with your creative way of doing the same.

2. Have a Fallback Plan

Having a Plan-B for almost any initiative pays! The field of entrepreneurs is not a walk on the park and you might face sudden financial setback or stiff competition in the run. Sometimes, no matter how good our idea may be, It just doesn’t tick! Maybe the market is too naive to approve such idea or they just didn’t give it much of a thought as it could have been monotonic. Whatever the case, having backup plan ensures that you get out that sticky situation without too much of damage to your soul. Many suggest that you should give in your best to the business you’ve come up with, but learn to take calculative risks, and if it doesn’t seem to be going so well, feel confident enough to kick in plan B.

3. Perseverance & Determination

There’s no such thing as “Accidental Billionaires“, well for atleast 98% of the case! In the early years of starting your home office, you may virtually get no clients, visitors (if a blog page) or offers. This is because, most seem to agree on a common misconception that newcomers aren’t that experienced or technically skilled. This puts down most startups as they see no success. But, let me warn you, have a relentless desire & determination to succeed, fall – then get back up, fall again – Get back up again!

I always used to believe, “Its all in the state of mind“, so believe, and have a desire to make your business the best of the best there is! Remember, building a Pyramid always took more time than an ordinary house.
