Apple Ipad: The other alternatives

Everyone has an Apple Ipad these days, Ahem..,I mean everyone, almost everyone wishes to have an Ipad ;) Should you be defined as one among the queue or do you dare to look beyond the Ipad? Here are some alternatives that are sure to get your attention.

Here I list below(in no particular order) some handheld devices that can cure your insatiable thirst for the Ipad. They do almost everything the Ipad does, and yes, they are comparatively cheaper too!
Archos 9
First up, is the Archos 9 tablet PC running Windows 7. Powered by Intel atom 1.2Ghz processor and a 60GB storage space, this device seems to handle your day to day tasks pretty easily. It also plays 1080p HD video, just to keep you occupied during those boring long flights.
The  WePad
Designed in Germany, the WePad supports multitouch, runs Android OS and is powered by intel atom 1.2Ghz processor. It comes with 16GB and 32GB versions, but support for expansion mmc slot is provided.
Dell Streak
For those who like to sheepishly laugh with a tag line “Say hello to my little friend“, this is for you! The Dell Streak is a 5-inch smaller than most tablets, runs Android OS, supports 3G, wifi/Bluetooth and everything else in-spite of its diminutive size. And yeah, its heart is the  popular 1Ghz snapdragon ARM mobile processor. It also allows memory card expansion upto 32GB. 
Notion Ink’s Adam
Notion Ink – The Adam comes from Bangalore(India) based company and is set to launch November 2010. Powered by Nvidia tegra processor  and a dual multi-touch display, With the usual 3G, wifi connectivity, this one is sure set to impress! 
The Joo-Joo
The joo-joo from Fusion Garage, Singapore, puts the internet at your fingertips. This 12 incher, powered by usual Atom processor and Nvidia Ion Gfx solution, supports HD video and web browsing inclusive of all the  bells and whistles. 
 
HP Slate 500
HP Slate 500, announced october 22nd of 2010, lets you read book, listen to music, and enjoy a rich media experience, say the developers. The spec are better than most other tablets, it runs Windows 7 on an Intel atom 1.8Ghz processor,has 64GB storage space, wireless connectivity and supports 1080HD video playback.

Cool weapons of mass destruction that you can own!

                Power of modern-day technological resources in the hands of mad scientists sure churns out stuff that absolutely add the “mojo” factor to our lives! Here’s roundup of some interesting “Toy” weapons that are fun and wicked at the same time! By the way, don’t let the term “Toy” fool you, as these bad boys pack some serious fire power, and a little more!
1. Steampunk Big Daddy [pictured above]
First up, is the Big daddy, from steampunk. Also called as Colonel J.Fizziwig’s blasters, these are full size blasters which they claim, can stop a rampaging Bull at 30 yards!! It releases tiny submicroscopic particles of energy erupt from the nozzle, incinerating your foe with radioactive fire?? What the hell, we like!!

2. The Liberator
Gotta admit, this resembles the gun that hellboy used in the movie! As said, this can punch holes through 2mm metal sheets! Keep this baby by your side when you go hunting for the Golden army!

3.The Combobulator 
The Combobulator, a lean mean killing machine, is about 6 inches and you can carry it in your pocket, the next time you go out to the ball. A great add on for that medieval pirate costume. No one would dare mess with you, would they? ;)
Just make sure you dont pull the trigger on someone!! 


4. The Mini Canon

5. The Click Boom
2mm Australian and german pinfire guns, nick named, the click boom, measuring about 2 cms, this one’s loud for its size! These were around during the 1970′s as the video says. Check em’ out here. btw, the host fires the gun at 7:50 in the video.
